With this being online golf instruction, along with the videos received we need feedback from you.
To put it simply, we need to know what your intentions were when you made the swing.
We will ask you to explain which moves you feel that you currently rely on.
And we'll do the same when you are given a new move to explore whether you have interpreted the information correctly or not.
We also won’t just ask for videos of full swings but also swing rehearsals.
We know your time is important so it is vital for us to know you are practicing the correct moves.
If these steps are done well, improvement is sure to follow.
Improving your golf swing is something that cannot be rushed.
It starts with a solid understanding of what you are trying to achieve, then slow speed/high repetition swings to begin interrupting the unconscious habits.
At this point we gradually increase swing speed whilst ensuring the new moves are becoming ingrained.
One of the main aims with the unlimited feedback we offer is for golfers to improve their games and ultimately reach their goals on an expedited time frame.
Now you're capable of moving differently, you'll need to be able to perform the new movements and be efficient with them.
First in a stable environment, to then bringing them to the course, an unstable environment, and ultimately do it under pressure.
The only way to save time is by allocating time for deliberate practice.
It is inevitable that each student will have different time constraints with regard to practice.
This is why it is incredibly important to maximise the time you do have. You have to focus with no distractions.
Yes use your phone to get the visual feedback but when you have reps to do -
- Be clear of your intentions
- Focus on high quality repetitions
- Remember quantity is important but ten high quality swings with maximum intent are better than twenty rushed
These four steps will guarantee that you leave with what you came for.
The first thing to do so we have the best chance to help you is to capture and send us quality videos.
Clear with good lighting, full speed and slow motion if possible.
If possible, find a space where we can easily see your entire body and the clubface during the whole swing.
To establish a baseline for the videos we receive and the ones following,
Down The Line. Face on and Rear View will be adequate and provide consistency across the board for all members.
Here are some guidelines :
Hard to go wrong on this one.
Make sure the camera is in front of your hands at around chest height and shooting perpendicular towards you..
This one can be problematic sometimes.
More often that not the camera is placed in line with the ball shooting towards the target line,
Sometimes too low, and possibly too close.
So for this one again, we're looking for a camera shooting at chest height.
Try and place it so the camera is directly in front of your hands or toe line, shooting towards the target
Nothing fancy on this one, just take the Face On guidelines but shoot from the back.
For short game you can take all the same guidelines, but shoot from hands height if possible.
There is very little chance we ask for a backview on short game though, so we'll be fine with only Down the Line and Face On.
